All about ...

Committee Chair

My name is April and this is my second year as Commitee Chair. I work behind the scenes to make sure everything falls into place. This year I have a tiger and bear in the pack and their father is the bear's den leader. During the day, I spend time furiously writing computer code. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, quilting, gardening, spoiling my kids with fancy birthday cakes, and watching a variety of competition style reality shows.

Committee Treasurer / Advancement Chair

My name is Tanya. I am the Pack Treasurer and Advancement Chair. My family has been with Pack 399 for 4 years. My oldest son is a Boy Scout and my youngest is a Wolf. I am an Esthetician at BodyBrite in Baton Rouge where I perform laser hair removal and facials. I am also a religious education teacher at St. John church in Prairieville. I enjoy reading and keeping busy by shuttling my 2 boys to scouts and sports activities.

Committee Secretary

I am 40 years old and have been married to Robbie Templet for almost 12 years. We have three children – J’Lyn (19), a sophomore at ULL; Benjamin (9), a 4th grader at Lake Elementary; and Preston (6), a 1st grader at Lake Elementary. I am a proud graduate of Mississippi State University (Go Dawgs!) and am a senior electrical engineer, specializing in high voltage, at Shell Chemical in Geismar. Besides volunteering with the Scout Committee, I help with both my sons dens (a Tiger and a Webelo I). When I am not busy with work, family, and Scouting, I co-direct 3-5 year old Sunday School Sunday at St. John’s Catholic Church. In any spare time, I enjoy swimming with the family and reading.

Tiger Den Leader

Robert “Robbie” Templet, Jr.

assisted by Mike Reeves

I’m 45 years “young”, married 11 years to Rebecca “Becky” Templet and father of three children; Jacquelyn (18), Benjamin (9) & Preston (6). For more than 20 years I’ve worked civil-structural design in the petro-chemical industry. I’m a Communion Minister at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church & a 4th degree Knight of Columbus. My favorite thing to do aside from spending time with my family is attending spiritual retreats twice a year. Scouting to me is much more than a program full of fun & activities; it is an investment in our youth. I challenge you to invest your time… be a leader, assistant leader or volunteer your talents to help our pack. (Eagle Scout 1985)

Wolves Den Leader

My name is Will and this is my second year as the den leader. I started with my son as a tiger and have enjoyed watching all my tigers grow into wolf scouts. I am a New Englander and do enjoy the great outdoors. Camping in mountains of New Hampshire, North Carolina and Tennessee are something my family I enjoy doing. I am Veteran of United States Navy and a Cub Scout, Webelo and First Class Boy Scout. I look forward to being the Wolf den leader for the 2015/2016 year.

Wolves Assistant Den Leader

My name is Jeremy Cavalier and I will be the Wolf assistant den leader. I am a native of Pierre Part and have been living in Gonzales for 14 years. I am employed by Our Lady of the Lake as an RN. I have been involved with the scouting program for 4 years, serving as Wolf, Bear, and Webelos den leader. Currently I am an assistant Scout Master with Troop 431 and also serve as an assistant baseball coach with the city of Gonzales. My hobbies include hunting, fishing, and pretty much anything in the great outdoors.

Bears Den Leader

I guess you could say I have a very strong scouting background. It’s in my blood so to speak. My Dad was a scout once upon a time and my Mom actually earned the highest rank in Girl Scouts. I joined scouts in the 1st grade and never looked back. My parents were my first Den leaders and remained involved ever since. I earned the Arrow of Light in Cub Scout and went on to Earn my Eagle Scout Award in 1991. When I turned 18 I joined an Explorer Post and continued my Scouting Career there.
Fast Forward a bunch of years… I graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a degree in Chemical Engineering and worked as an engineer in the Oil and Gas Industry for 10 years. After a bit of a career change, I am now a Fire Fighter/EMT and Captain with the Prairieville Fire Department.
I was very excited when my oldest son expressed interest in Cub Scouts and have now come out of retirement as his Den Leader. Now his little brother is also excited to be following in our footsteps and he will start as a Tiger this year.

Webelos I Den Leader

Chris Olsen

assisted by Robbie Templet

I am 35 years old. I was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout. I enjoy camping, fishing, and hiking. It is an honor to instill the abilities and traits that were instilled in me through scouts to the youth of today.

Webelos II Den Leader / Quartermaster

My family has been involved with Pack 399 since 2007, when our oldest son transferred to the Pack as a Webelos Scout. This will be our last year in the Pack level of scouting as son number three, Landon, finishes up his Webelos requirements and crosses over to Boy Scouts. While I had no personal scouting experience growing up, I have volunteered in many different pack leadership capacities over the last few years. One of my favorite roles has always been working with the Pinewood Derby. There are so many lessons learned through that one activity and it's one the boys look forward to all year. I also enjoy our camp outs and camp cooking. There's just nothing better than teaching the boys about being prepared and cooking on a campfire. I have watched a number of young men grow through this program and my family has made many friends through the scouting program as well. I'm looking forward to the scouting year ahead and hope to leave Pack 399 just a little better than we found it.
